Dear Jouett Elementary Families,

I hope you are all having a LEGENDARY Labor Day Weekend with your loved ones! Here are the updates and reminders for the week of September 6, 2026 – September 12, 2026:

Labor Day Holiday: No school on Monday, September 7th. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, September 8th.
Remote Learning Packets: Packets were sent home on Friday. Please store them in a safe place to be used during unexpected snow or inclement-weather days. We will notify you when they need to be completed.
Mobile Dentist Visit: The Mobile Dentist will be visiting Jouett on September 8th and 9th for registered students only. Check out the attached image and/or Facebook for sign-up information.
Online Registration: Please ensure all components of online registration are completed. Contact the main office with any questions.
Fall Fun Run Fundraiser: Ongoing through October 2nd.
General PTA Meeting & Movie Night: Friday, September 11th at 6:00 PM.
Weekly Nature Challenge: Our School Counselors invite you to participate in a scavenger hunt for Week 3! You can submit your photos for the nature challenge here: Nature Challenge Submission Link. Check our Facebook page for details and submit photos of your discoveries. You are hunting for the following:
- A smooth rock
- Something green
- Water
- Clouds
- A tree stump
- Yellow flowers
- Ants
- Sticks

Dear Jouett Elementary Families,

I LOVED seeing all of our students out in their Green and Gold on Friday. There is nothing better than a Fall Friday in Louisa County! Here are some important updates and reminders for the upcoming weeks:

Fall Fun Run Fundraiser: Ongoing through October 2nd.
PTA Meeting & Movie Night: Join our LEGENDARY PTA on September 11th at 6:00 PM for a General PTA meeting followed by a movie night.
Classroom Treats Policy: Beginning September 1st, students may bring food to share with classmates. Please email or send a note to Mrs. Adams, our LEGENDARY school nurse, with your student’s name, grade, homeroom, and the item's ingredients list at least 2 days prior to bringing the item.
Online Registration: Please ensure all components of online registration are completed. Contact the main office if you have any questions.
Weekly Nature Challenge: You knocked our first Nature Challenge out of the park with 90+ photos submitted! This week's focus is on INSECTS. Count how many different types of insects you can find outside, and use this link to share your amazing discoveries: Nature Challenge Photo Link

Nature Challenge #2

Hello,

This is Ms. Shuler, principal at Jouett Elementary. I am so proud of how well our LEGENDARY Trailblazers have adjusted to returning to school after a great full week together!

Here are the key updates and reminders for the upcoming week:

Assessments: Students will take beginning-of-year reading and math assessments to help us tailor instruction and small-group support.
Safety Drills: We will practice our first lockdown drill (Pre-K and Kindergarten are exempt) as well as a bus evacuation drill this week.
Bus Rules Review: Students will review transportation rules this week. Students will bring home an LCPS bus safety pamphlet, and we ask that you review the pamphlet with students.
Outside Food Policy: Please remember no shared outside food is allowed until after August 31. Individual lunches and snacks are perfectly fine.
PTA Fundraiser: The PTA is sending fliers about the Fun Run Fall Fundraiser home with students on Monday, August 24. The fundraiser will end on October 2nd. Please help us make this event LEGENDARY!
Green & Gold Day (Friday, Aug 28): Wear green and gold to support TEAM LCPS! The Louisa Lions Varsity Football Team plays Mills Godwin at 7 PM at The Jungle.
Introducing JES Nature Challenges: To help our students and families experience the joy of the outdoors, we are excited to launch JES Nature Challenges! Each week, we will share a fun, easy outdoor activity that your family can complete together (the challenges are totally optional)! Check out the attached image for this week's challenge.

WeWeek 1 Nature Challenge How to Participate:

Release Day: A new Nature Challenge will be shared every Sunday during our principal's updates. The challenge will also be shared with students on TBN and through our JES website and Facebook page.
Submit Your Photos: Capture the fun! Using the link on our school's website or Facebook page, send in a picture of your family completing the week's activity.
Submission Window: Pictures can be submitted anytime from Monday through Thursday.
School Slideshow: Submitted photos will be featured in a special weekly JES slideshow so our students can celebrate each other's outdoor adventures!
We cannot wait to see all the creative ways our JES families enjoy the great outdoors. Grab your sunscreen, head outside, and let the challenges begin!

School Supplies Information

Greetings JES Families! Today, we are excited to share with you our school supplies lists for the 2026-2027 school year. We hope these lists will be helpful to you as you prepare for the exciting, upcoming year at JES!

And just like last year, we also want to provide you with a few reminders that will help guide you as you make purchases in the near future. These reminders will help students avoid items that do not correlate with our school's weapons detectors.

- All three-ring binders should be 1.5 inches or less.
- When possible, please use plastic water bottles. If you do purchase metal water bottles, please opt for small/medium-sized bottles.
- Please avoid purchasing wheeled, rolling backpacks if possible.
- Please do not purchase adult-sized scissors. Instead, opt for blunt, small/medium-sized scissors.
