Greetings Friends, Families, and Visitors,

Welcome to The Jouett Elementary School, home of the Trailblazers! I am honored to have the opportunity to lead such a fantastic school with a rich tradition that has produced so many Legendary students.

Along with staff, I will work hard to continue the "Pride in Excellence" tradition established at Jouett by continuing to build strong relationships with all stakeholders, and community partners. We will focus on STEAM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math), fostering a safe and nurturing environment for children, effectively using data to drive instruction, and providing exciting and challenging enrichment opportunities for all students.

As we move to the 2017/18 school year we will continue to advance the motto, “Be Legendary”. Our students will continuously be empowered to take risks, have ownership in their own learning, be inspired to think critically, and be exposed to opportunities to serve and lead.

Whether you are a current or prospective Jouett Elementary parent/family, or an interested community member, please explore our website and Facebook page to learn more. If you are new to the area, we welcome you to schedule a visit and see why Jouett Elementary is truly Legendary!

As Principal my door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to stop in or call to make an appointment to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas to help make this the best year yet!

Ms. Spaid, Assistant Principal

Dear Jouett Families and Friends,

My name is Heather Spaid and I am so thrilled to be a Jouett Trailblazer! More importantly, I am delighted to be working with all of you. I have heard such marvelous things about the faculty, staff, students, and parents at Jouett Elementary School. It is going to be a wonderful year full of learning, new adventures, and success stories. I feel extremely blessed and honored to be on this journey with you all.

I acquired the majority of my K-12 education in Fluvanna County. I graduated in 1996 and headed to Radford University where I earned two bachelor's degrees in Elementary Education and English. I have been an elementary classroom teacher for 12 years. My first teaching position was at Trevilians Elementary School; so coming back to Louisa County feels like coming home. In 2010, I took two years off from teaching to earn a master's degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia.

My hobbies include reading, spending time with family and friends, taking care of my cocker spaniel, Haley, and having play dates with my nephew, Caleb and my niece, Chloe. I am eagerly looking forward to serving Jouett Elementary and the Louisa County community.
